In a move not listed on the court’s agenda, Commissioner Jody Rutherford issued a to the public regarding county growth during the regular meeting of the Bandera County Commissioners’ Court last Thursday, March 10.

In reference to the many builders coming into Bandera County, Rutherford emphasized that counties cannot provide for the protection against urban sprawl like cities can.

“We can’t stop these subdivisions because there are no laws,” said Rutherford. “We can’t do it.”

Items on the court’s meeting agenda included discussing the upcoming April 8, 2024, solar eclipse and its impact on county departments and resources, considering a resolution supporting Friends of Hondo Canyon’s request to Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for a rule change prohibiting discharge into pristine waters and considering approval of enrolling county employees into a state-mandated cybersecurity course.

The Bandera County Commissioners’ Court meets at 10 a.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of every month at the Bandera County Courthouse.
