The precinct - county convention for the Bandera County Republican Party will be Saturday, May 23, at the Mansfield Park recreation room, but Republicans who want to be considered as a potential delegate to the state Republican Convention do not need to be physically present to qualify, party officials said.
The county convention’s primary function will be to elect delegates to the state Republican Convention in Houston from July 16-18, and anyone who voted in the Republican Primary this year is eligible to be named a delegate.
Those desiring to be part of the state convention should send their names, addresses and contact information to Bandera County Republican Party Chair Lynn Haueter before Saturday, May 23, if they do not plan to attend the county convention that day.
That information should be sent to Haueter by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The county convention will run from 10 a.m. to noon at Mansfield Park, 2667 Highway 16 North just outside of Bandera, and all Republicans in the county are invited to attend.
Social distancing safeguards outlined by state and federal health officials in the fight against the coronavirus will be followed at the meeting.
Those who would prefer to listen to what transpires at the convention via conference call can take part that way as well.
To get the dial-in number and access code for the conference call, contact Haueter at the email address listed earlier – email@example.com. Participants opting for the conference call option will take part in “listen only” mode. Haueter said officials encourage any
Haueter said officials encourage any Republican wanting to take part in the July convention to submit his or her name as a delegate. As a Republican-majority county, Bandera County has the opportunity to send so many delegates that everyone who qualifies as a delegate is likely to be able to attend, she said.
