Rabies resurfaces in county

A surprise case of rabies in a racoon arose in Bandera County last week, almost four months after the last rabies case was confirmed in the county, authorities said. Bandera County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Matt King said the newest case was reported last Wednesday, Oct. 23, when a racoon was seen lying on a boat in the afternoon on Turkey Lane in Lakehills before being put down. Tests confirmed that the racoon was rabid, King said.
