A Bandera man died in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 16 about two miles southeast of Pipe Creek on Dec. 30, the Texas Department of Public Safety has reported. Authorities said Miguel Quintero, 73, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Highway 16 near Gunther Lane at about 2 p.m. on Dec. 30. DPS investigators said Quintero had been travelling southbound on Highway 16 in a 1987 Nissan Frontier pickup when for an unknown reason, his vehicle traveled into oncoming northbound traffic and struck a 2011 Jeep Liberty driven by Eugene Smith, 69, of Glen Rose.
