Medina Independent School District trustees had a busy meeting on Aug. 17. They approved a new budget, new tax rate and two November elections, one of them regarding the tax rate increase.
Medina Superintendent Kevin Newsom later said one of the elections, for trustee positions, will be cancelled because the incumbents had drawn no opponents.
The school board approved the new 2020-2021 budget of $4.4 million, up from the 2019-2020 budget of $3.9 million, a difference of $465,903.
The new budget General Operating Fund revenues include taxes of $2,729,463, other local revenue of $71,000 and state revenue of $1,545,440.
