A Womens Self-Defense Class that had been held at the American Legion hall in Lakehills has moved to the Lakehills Area Library and will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 25, from noon to 2 p.m.

Officials said the class is free and open to women ages 16 and older.

The library’s Daytime Book Club will meet at the library on Tuesday, Jan. 28, to discuss “The Things We Keep,” by Sally Hepworth.

For the time of the book club meeting and information about other library events, call 830-510-2777.

The library, which is at 7200 FM 1283 in Lakehills, also presents Storytime activities for youngsters ages 2-5 every Wednesday beginning at 10:30 a.m. That free program uses songs, games and crafts to teach children in a fun environment.

Officials reminded patrons that the library has raffle tickets for sale that will put the purchaser in the running for a $500 VISA gift card or a Howa Hogue Gameking Rifle and scope in the caliber of the winner’s choice.

Tickets for the gift card cost $5 apiece or six for $25, while the tickets for the rifle package cost $10 apiece, or six for $50.

The raffle will be held on Feb. 8 as part of the library’s 21st annual Dinner and Auction, which will be held at the Lakehills Civic Center beginning at 4:30 p.m.

A live and silent auction will be part of that fundraiser, along with a meal consisting of Gerry’s Famous Chicken Spaghetti, salad, bread and a beverage. Tickets for that dinner can be purchased for $10.
