Job fair focuses on veterans

Workforce Solutions Alamo, in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission, the Texas Veterans Commission, the Texas Medical Center and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, will host the 8th annual Hiring Red, White and You job fair for all job seekers, particularly veterans, transitioning military personnel and their spouses, on Thursday, Nov. 7 The job fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Freeman Coliseum in Expo Hall C, located at 3201 E. Houston St. in San Antonio.

The first hour will be dedicated to job interviews and discussions with veterans and their spouses, and the remainder of the event will be open to all job seekers, officials said. They said, however, that no one would be turned away from the event.

The Hiring Red, White and You fair in San Antonio is one of the largest of many similar events held throughout the state, with more than 160 employers taking part, offering jobs at salaries of $15 and hour and more.

A Veterans Information Village consisting of 55 veterans’ service organizations will be on hand to answer questions and provide resources ranging from incorporating LinkedIn in job searches, resume reviews, educational opportunities, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs benefits and more.
