Hondo National Bank has named Olen Thompson as its president and chief executive officer, a news release from the bank said.
Thompson is a veteran banker who joined Hondo National in 1999 and served in various positions for the bank since 2009, including executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Before joining HNB, Thompson worked for 19 years with Guaranty Bank in the Houston area.
He said this week that he was excited by his new assignment but had no immediate plans for changes.
“We’ll continue to offer the same service we’ve been providing to the community in the past,” he said. “It’s just going to be the same great bank it’s always been.”
Thompson is a Uvalde native who graduated from Utopia High School and attended Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde, the University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Houston – Clear Lake, which is where he received a degree in accounting, the release said.
He and his wife Sharon live in Medina County.
Thompson also was named to the Board of Directors of Texas Heritage Bancshares, the parent company of HNB.
Hondo National operates out of five branch locations in Hondo, Bandera, Uvalde, Leakey and Blanco. The Bandera location is at 355 Highway 16 South.
