Cowgirl calendar releases Thursday

The 2022 Bandera Cowgirl Calendar is arriving December 23 just in time for the holidays, and those looking for a unique gift with a Bandera twist can’t go wrong with this celebration of icons from the Cowboy Capital of the World.

Of course, shoppers may understandably want to pick up a copy for themselves, since this year’s calendar is much more than a stocking stuffer; it’s a celebration of Bandera’s history and tradition.

“This year’s theme is very special,” said Karen Osman, who organizes the project. “We have great sponsors, and the cowgirls in this year’s calendar reflect a tradition of long-term trail riding, people who leave and return after a month-and-a-half of running cattle.”

One of the cowgirls honored in the calendar is Suzie Heywood, a member of the Texas Heroes Hall of Honor at the Frontier Times Museum who was the Trail Boss of a 655-mile, 48-day trail drive from Bandera to Dodge City.

Heywood will be honored during tomorrow’s calendar release, which is scheduled to begin 11 a.m. Thursday, December 23, at Spirits of Texas, located at 1107 Cypress Street.

Calendars will be available at Spirits of Texas, the Bandera General Store, Lowe’s and Bandera True Value Hardware starting Thursday.
