The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) attributed two new Bandera County deaths to COVID-19, bringing the total death count since the start of the pandemic to 72.

That new death count is up from last week’s report and brings the total for 2022 to seven deaths.

Statewide, there were 1,398 deaths reported, almost equal to the prior week’s report.

DSHS reported 38 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Bandera County and 27 new probable cases. Both of those numbers are less than the new numbers reported last week, matching a statewide decrease in new COVID-19 cases.

Peterson Health hospitalizations stand at 16, four of which are in the ICU.

COVID-19 hospitalizations throughout Texas decreased by 23.6 percent this week, according to DSHS.

Bandera’s vaccination rate once again increased less than one percent this week, with 51.79 percent of those age five and up vaccinated with at least one dose and 45.17 fully vaccinated, according to DSHS.

Those numbers continue an average of just over one percent increase in vaccination rates per month.

For those interested, the next vaccination clinic in the county will be at Mansfield Park on February 23 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
