COVID cases remain low

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) reported three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 last week and one probable case in Bandera County, matching a recent trend countywide and statewide.

The Coronavirus Resource Center at Johns Hopkins University reported the new of new cases statewide dropped to 17,549 compared to the previous week.

Statewide, 89 new COVID-19 deaths were reported, according to DSHS.

DSHS also said hospitalizations rose slightly statewide last week, with that number reported at 802.

Bandera County’s vaccination rate continued to trickle upward, with the percentage of the population of county age five and up vaccinated with at least one dose increasing one-tenth of a percent to 52.40 percent, according to DSHS.

DSHS says 45.95 percent of Bandera County is fully vaccinated. That’s up from last week’s number of 45.91.
