Boy drowns in Guadalupe River

A five-year-old boy was pronounced dead after his body was pulled from the Guadalupe River earlier this afternoon.

According to the Kerrville Police Department (KPD), the boy had fallen in while fishing with his father on the 3300 block of Riverside Drive. The father immediately dove into the water, but was unable to locate the child, as water visibility was limited due to recent heavy rains.

Kerrville Police Department officers and Kerrville Fire Department personnel responded to the incident at about 12:43 p.m.

Kerrville Fire Department Technical Rescue Team divers recovered the body from the river at approximately 2:43 p.m.

The child was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace J.R. Hoyne.

The Kerrville Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of this child," read a release from the KPD.

The release also extended to thanks to the Kerrville Fire Department, the Kerr County

Sheriff's Department and the Game Wardens from the Texas Parks and WIldlife Department for their assistance.
