Medina bounced back from a 58-12 loss to St. Jo on Aug. 29 to play the Morton Indians tough in a 35-32 loss on Thursday, Sept. 3, in the neutral location of Hermleigh.

The Bobcats traveled 293 miles one way to Hermleigh, while the Indians traveled 183 miles one way to the location.

In describing the game, Medina Head Football coach Kurt Nichols said,“We played Morton in a very close, competitive game. It was 19-19 at half, and with one minute left, we were up 32-27.

“We kicked off after scoring a 60-yard pass from Nate Aguilar to T.J. Deleon. On the following kickoff, we lost containment on an onside kick that was fielded, and they scored immediately.

“We got the ball back with 52 seconds left on the 10 yard line. We were scrambling on a pass play and got tackled in the end zone, and they got a safety.

“We had plenty of chances to win, and I’m very proud of our team. We just didn’t finish the game in the fourth quarter.”

Medina will play its first home game of the season against Williamson County Home School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11.
