At the Bandera Public Library, we have both kinds of music: Country and Western. Today at 9:30 a.m. our Country Music group meets in the Downstairs Meeting Room. All acoustic instruments are welcome to jam out.

Also today, we are hosting Enroll SA in the Genealogy Room from 3 to 6 p.m. This non-profit group is a part of AACOG (Alamo Area Council of Governments) and is offering free help enrolling in the 2022 Marketplace health insurance. Saturday, January 15, is the deadline so be sure to come by and enroll.

Saturday is also our weekly meetup of Dungeons and Dragons in the Downstairs Meeting Room. This role-playing game allows the players to take part in all kinds of adventures and quests and fosters communication skills and creative thinking. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

On Tuesday, January 18, at 4 p.m. the new Girls Who Code group will be holding an information session in the Teen Center. You can come by and learn more about the program and its goals. Girls Who Code is a national program designed to get young girls interested in technology and science. Participants learn computer coding and take what they learn to complete community service.

Wednesday, January 19, from 2 to 6 p.m. is the Tina Melo Project Runway Book Talk and Demo. Tina Melo is a former clothing designer who runs a non-profit dedicated to teaching sewing and clothing making skills to children and adults. This will be a Montessori-style workshop for kids ages 6 and up to learn how to make their own clothes. Space is limited so call or stop by the library to sign up. Wednesdays at 4 p.m. is our weekly sit and stitch. Bring your stitch project for conversation and help with any crafting questions.

The Library will be closed on Monday, January 17, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Masks are recommended while in the library building. Check out our website www. banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information.

Mauri Guillen Fagan is the Director of the Bandera Public LIbrary.
