Wednesday, Nov. 6 The Kerrville Parkinson’s Support Group will hear Madalyn Weiberg with Peterson Regional Medical Center talk about nutrition management in relation to Parkinson’s Disease when it holds its November meeting beginning at 4 p.m. at the Peterson Ambulatory Care Center Classroom in Kerrville. The address for the center is 260 Cully Dr.
Thursday, Nov. 7 Assistance available from the Fisher House Inc., an organization that supplies rooms at no cost to families whose loved ones are being treated at a military hospital in San Antonio, will be described to members of the Bandera County Republican Women when it meets at the Bandera Electric Cooperative’s Community Room at 3172 Highway 16 North outside of Bandera at 6 p.m. Members also will vote at the meeting for new officers and will choose names from the Angel Tree of foster children who the members will buy Christmas gifts for this year. The Republican Women’s social hour will begin at 5 p.m.
Friday, Nov. 8 Pathways Youth and Family Services will host a meeting for foster parents, adoptive parents and caregivers at the Bandera County Public Library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the lower-level conference room at the library, 515 Main St. in Bandera. Friday – Sunday, Nov. 8-10 Die Kunstler von Fredericks-burg will host its 27th annual Fine Art Show and Sale featuring original art created by the group’s artist members at St. Joseph’s Halle in Fredericksburg, 212 W. San Antonio St. Framed and unframed artwork from more than 65 area artist will be available. A Meet the Artist reception will be held on Friday from 5-8 p.m. Exhibition hours will be that same time on Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The event is free.
Saturday, Nov. 9 Magenta Sky Ranch, a facility in Bandera that provides Equine Facilitated Learning programs for all ages addressing a variety of emotional and behavioral issues, will hold an open house to demonstrate the activities it provides from 9 a.m. to noon. Light refreshments will be provided. The ranch is located at 935 Rikki Dr. off of Farm Road 3240.
The 17th annual Bandera Honors Veterans program in recognition of Veterans Day will be held on the grounds of the Bandera County Courthouse, at 500 Main St. in Bandera, and along Main Street, where a parade honoring veterans will be held. The keynote speaker for the event will be 53rd District Texas State Rep. Andrew Murr, whose district includes Bandera County. Informational booths by veterans organizations and family displays of military memorabilia will be exhibited outside the courthouse beginning at 10 a.m., and patriotic music will be provided by the San Antonio Pipe & Drum corps along with children from a nonprofit group called Art 2 Heart. The parade will begin at noon, and a barbecue lunch will be presented to veterans and their spouses beginning at 1 p.m.
The Democratic Club of Bandera County will hear Wimberley Valley Watershed Association Executive Director David Baker talk about environmental issues affecting the Hill Country when it meets at the Bandera Electric Cooperative with a free lunch beginning at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend. The cooperative is located at 3172 Highway 16 North outside of Bandera.
