Learn about the programs that the Alamo Area Council of Governments provides seniors in the area at a presentation the council of governments will make at the Lakehills Area Library on Thursday, Jan. 9, from noon to 2 p.m.
The session will cover all the free, health, financial, transportation and housing services that AACOG provides to seniors in Bandera, Medina and other area counties.
Also on Thursday, the genealogy club will meet at the library from 10 a.m. to noon. The public is welcome to explore family histories with a group of experienced genealogists at the meeting.
The library can provide a laptop computer to anyone needing that tool as part of his or her search. The library also has access to Ancestry.com to help in the review.
Every Wednesday at the library, Storytime is held for youngsters ages 2-5. It is a free program that uses songs, games and crafts to help youngsters have fun while learning. The program begins at 10:30 a.m.
On Wednesday, Jan. 8, the library’s board of directors will meet from 4-5 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
A yoga class for all ages is held at the library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., including Tuesday, Jan. 14. Those participating are asked to bring a mat and water for the class.
Raffle tickets also are being sold at the library for a $500 VISA gift card and for a Howa Hogue Gameking Rifle and scope that was donated to the raffle by Boyle’s True Value hardware in Lakehills and Bandera.
Raffle tickets for the gift card cost $5 each or six for $25, while tickets for the rifle-scope package are going for $10 apiece or six for $50.
Winners of the raffle will be drawn at a fundraiser dinner and auction on Feb. 8.
