The Medina Wolf Club had its annual Cabrito Barbeque on Sunday, October 4, at the Community Center in Medina.

The proceeds from the barbeque and club membership fees go to support predator control in the area. A state trapper’s fees are paid from the funds raised.

This year’s barbecue served over 350 people and was sold out.

Barbeque cook John Bruce said, “This has been one of our best years. We sold completely out.”

The plates consisted of cabrito, beef brisket or sausage with coleslaw and beans. Homemade desserts were provided to top off the meal.

The Medina High School National Honor Society and the FFA (Future Farmers of America) helped with the meal.

Forty community volunteers staffed the barbeque pits, serving line, outside drive through and the silent auction.

The silent auction featured an “All Access Artist Pass” from noted country troubadour Robert Earl Keen.

Organizer Lowanna Jackson stated, “We want to thank everyone who came out to the barbeque. It was one of our best years. The Wolf Club really appreciates the support of the Medina community. I personally would like to thank our volunteers who made this event possible. They are the greatest group I have ever worked with.”

The Medina Livestock and Wildlife Association, aka The Wolf Club, has open membership. For more information, contact Lowanna Jackson at Post Office Box 305, Medina, Texas 78055.
