Santa visits Medina’s Old Timer

The “Ho Ho Ho” man in a red suit came in a fire truck to the Medina’s Old Timer store and gas station on Saturday, Dec. 11, as the first of a planned annual trip stop.
Santa Claus jumped of a fire truck and started taking children’s Christmas present requests.
Among the first children to visit Santa were Sidney and Conrad McCoy of Medina.
“Every year the kids look forward to see Santa arrive on the fire truck. This is a community tradition, where folks with kids, friends and families get together and spirits brighten,” said dad Rob McCoy.
Store Manager Kathryn Johnson said event was planned just a few weeks ago, and they hoped to grow it into a yearly tradition, pending Santa’s schedule and itinerary, of course.
She said the event used advertised by flyers within the community, Facebook, information posted at the store and word of mouth.
“We offered pictures with Santa, we wanted to have pictures available for the kids to take home as well as quality pictures they could enjoy for years to come. We took both Polaroid and digital pictures. The Polaroid pictures were handed out that night along with candy canes by our Elf. The digital pictures will be shared on our Facebook page this week,” she said
The Old Timer owner and staff said they wanted to create an opportunity for the community to come together and share in this holiday season. To see the eyes of children young and old light up at the sight of Santa and get to take a picture with him is an amazing gift.
Old Timer event workers include Store Owner Deborah Martin, Kathryn Johnson Store Manager, Santa and his Elf.
