The Nightmare on Maple Street (NOMS) thriller last Sunday drew a spooky group of costumed characters, including dogs and a lemur.

The wildly popular event at the City Park can change a normal family into anything from costumed pirates to costumed dinosaurs and anything in between.

“This is the fourth year for Nightmare on Maple Street, and you can see a lot of people already here at 5 p.m. when it starts,” said City of Bandera Marshal Will Dietrich, whose office hosts the Halloween Hill Country favorite.

The event included costume contests, bounce houses, a DJ, door prizes, a hay ride, food trucks and many business and community stations where kids could get candy and other goodies.

The visitors to NOMS were very imaginative with their costumes including: Captain Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp-lookalike Donnie Osborn,; a group of six young friends that included a tree costume played by tallest member Chase Rung and prisoners played by Izabella Mustafa and Jocelyn Garcia; and another group of young people, one of whom wore a bath robe for a costume. They were Matt Hamett, Leo Powell, Evelynn Meddo, Logan Baily (wearing the rob) and Alyssa Herring.

One big question loomed above everything at the event: who the most fun at NOMS: adults, teens, children, dogs or the lemur?
