The Eight Annual Cowboy Mardi Gras Bull and Mini Bull Riding event will be held this Saturday, Feb. 6 at Mansfield Park Rodeo Arena. Gates open at 3 p.m. and will feature multiple categories of competition. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for ages six to 12, and those five and under are free.
The event was started by the late Dan Riggle, and Charles and Dawn Oldham of Diamond 0 Bucking Bulls to promote the cowboy way of life.
“This rodeo has become more successful every year, and we will continue to hold this every year during Bandera’s Mardi Gras celebration. This year Diamond O Bucking Bulls and Riding on Faith are producing the event,” spokesperson Karen Konvicka said.
“This is an event for the entire family. Besides bull riding and mini bull riding there will be a carnival game booth and a food vendor,” she added.
“Troy [Konvicka] and I became part of this to continue our belief in ‘Promoting the Cowboy Way of Life’ while helping continue this tradition during the Cowboy Mardi Gras. This gives visitors the opportunity to see another event in Bandera,” Karen Konvicka said.
Konvicka said the upcoming event will hopefully continue to be another event Cowboy Mardi Gras for many years to come.
“While Troy and I had a very successful Summer Series in 2020, we are hoping that this will help boost people’s knowledge of the Riding on Faith Rodeo in Bandera and that they will come back to Bandera in the Summer of 2021,” she said.
