Bandera County Democratic Club members met on September 11 at the BEC Community Room.

Meet and Greet preceded the general meeting which opened with a 9/11 Commemoration led by president, Eloise Clayton.

September’s guest speaker, Daniel Tucker, General Manager and Managing Editor of the Bandera Bulletin, presented his plans and aspirations for the community newspaper.

Tucker stated that his main goal as the Bulletin editor was to keep the paper local, informing the readers on current news as to what’s happening in their community.

He welcomed readership involvement and encouraged feedback from local residents regarding news of interest and concerns that directly impact the community.

A lengthy Q&A followed Tucker’s presentation, and his input was enjoyed and appreciated by members.

The business meeting followed.

President Eloise Clayton stated that Democrats’ participation in the Bandera Labor Day Round Up Parade and booth was successful, and she thanked all members who organized and volunteered for the events.

Lynn Oliver, County Chair, updated members on the State legislative redistricting hearing and how to get involved.

She also reminded members about National Voter Registration Day, September 28, and stated that Democrats will be involved with bipartisan voter registration events to be held at the Lakehills Area Library and the Bandera American Legion Hall.

Suzanne Jackson, Finance Committee, reported that strategies are in the works for raising funds for rental of a headquarters space for 2020.

Essie Stewart, Membership Committee, gave an update on the ongoing membership drive and the positive results regarding addition of new and recurring memberships.

Before adjournment, President Clayton reminded members to show up and volunteer for the Silver Sage Food Distribution (September 23) and the October Adopt-A-Highway clean-up (TBA). Also, she extended an invitation to Coffee in the Park, every Thursday morning.

The next scheduled meeting will be Saturday, October 13, 2021. It will begin with a Potluck and Meet and Greet 11-Noon, followed by Guest speaker segment, finalizing with the business meeting. This gathering is open to the public.
