Wednesday, Dec. 18 The Silver Sage Center will host a Christmas Meal in the lunchroom beginning at 11:30 a.m. and will put on an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest during the day. Prizes will be given to the entrants with the ugliest sweaters. The center is located at 803 Buck Creek Dr.in Bandera. The public is invited to the festivities.
Thursday, Dec. 19 The Medina Astronomy Club will examine an astronomical issue when it holds its monthly meeting at the Medina Community Library beginning at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to take part. The library is at 13948 Highway 16 North in Medina.
Saturday, Dec. 21 Agape Offerings and Thrift Store will be open to distribute a Christmas ham and gift baskets filled with household and personal care products along with Christmas gifts for youngsters to Medina area families who signed up to receive the holiday assistance earlier in the month. The store is at 263 Reed Ave.in Medina next to the Medina United Methodist Church. Its hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A Christmas Critter program will be featured at the Bandera Natural History Museum beginning at 1 p.m. Happy Tails Entertainment will present the program. A wallaby, a lemur, a tortoise and an alpaca are among the animals that will entertain the museum crowd during the Christmas presentation, which includes interaction between the animals and visitors. Santa Claus also will be present for photos in the museum’s Arctic diorama. Regular admission prices apply. The museum is at 267 Old Bandera Highway in Bandera.
Saturday, Sunday, Dec. 21, 22 A Christmas Toy and Antique Quilt Show will be presented at the Shooting Star Museum on Saturdays and Sundays through December. Antique toys and quilts dating back 100 years will be on display each day from 1-5 p.m. The exhibit is free. The museum is at 5445 County Road 4514 between Castroville and Devine.
