RE: SANCHEZ LETTER

October 26, 2022 - 00:00

With respect to Miguel Sanchez’ letter to the editor, it’s extremely disappointing that neither Mr. Streigl, Ms. Hasty, Ms. Leith, Ms. Briscoe, Ms. Skogland, or Mr. Mata chose to respond themselves and defend their actions. I’m sure they have good reasons for staying silent. One may be, they don’t have a defense for their actions. Another reason might be that they’ve been advised by their attorney not to respond in writing as past comments they have made have hurt them in court. Or, further comments from any of them could damage a defense they may need to mount as the Attorney General wraps up its investigation into their allegedly fraudulent removal of the former County Chair from the Party’s bank accounts.

So, as is typical, in the case where folks don’t have a good answer to questions raised regarding their actions, they find someone, usually someone no one knows, to write a letter on their behalf and attack the messenger…not the message!

I appreciate and thank both Mr. Streigl and Ms. Briscoe for their service to our country. As for their history, heck, Mr. Streigl might have been a Boy Scout. Ms. Hasty, Leith, Briscoe and Skogland might have been Brownies. All of them may have gotten good citizenship awards in grade school but unfortunately, that doesn’t change their bad “leadership” of our local Republican party which is what they don’t want to discuss or defend.

As for the comments regarding my background; Yes, I did work for Congressman Farenthold, I also worked for conservative Congressmen Buck McKeon, Michael Cloud and Randy Weber. Yes, I own a vacation home in California. I have for over 40 years. Am I a resident of California? Heck no!! The state is way too liberal for a lifelong Republican who’s worked on behalf of Senator Barry Goldwater, President Reagan, both President Bush’s and proudly, President Trump…as well as a host of other conservative Republican legislators in the State, County and Congress. Am I building a summer home in Montana? Yes. Have we listed our home in the Flying L? Yes. But, I’m still a Bandera, Texas resident and voter. I care about our state and local community which is why these attacks on me, personally, are not relevant to the actions of Streigl & Company. It will not deter me from continuing to speak the truth and seek answers to the many questions regarding our current Party leadership and their failure to follow the law, no matter how desperately they want to change the subject.

So, let’s recap; Streigl, Leith, Hasty, Briscoe & Skogland used fraudulent documents to remove the former County Chair from a state bank account only she was authorized, by the Texas Secretary of State, to be the signatory on and then moved the funds to a different bank. Next, they sued the former Chair, lost in court and were ordered to pay her attorney costs and return control of the bank account they removed her from. Then, they had the audacity to claim they won... violating the court ordered confidentiality agreement they themselves requested! Their illegitimate actions didn’t end there. When they took control of the party in June, Streigl removed a legitimately elected Precinct Chair from her duly elected office and appointed another individual, Mata, to that office when Mata didn’t even live in the Precinct, a requirement of Texas state election law. Feeling emboldened by their actions, they then attempted to lay the groundwork, again illegitimately, to remove two other duly elected Precinct Chairs, who wouldn’t kowtow to their demands. They were stopped from doing so when they were taken to court and ordered by the Judge to, “follow the law.” That’s right, Mr. Streigl, Mr. Law & Order by his own definition, had to be ordered to follow the law. Ironic to say the least.

And once again, they sought a confidentiality agreement to keep the details of the action hidden from the public. An order that was denied.

The good news is, the Precinct Chair they illegitimately removed from office has been restored to office and Mr. Mata has resigned the appointment he never should have been given in the first place.

I appreciate Mr. Sanchez’s writing a letter which provides me the opportunity to explain my reasons for writing letters to the editor. I’m reminded of the famous quote, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

To save the next writer some research time, I never got a good citizenship award in grade school, but I’ve also never kicked a dog.

In closing, I just wish Mr. Striegl & Company would explain why they need to be admonished by a Judge to, “follow the law.” (I’m also still waiting, like many others, on the independent audit they’ve been asked to provide.) After all, they claim to be the party of ‘law & order.’ It’s high time they started acting like it. That would put an end to all the articles and letters to the editor Mr. Sanchez so desperately wants.
