4H MEMORIES

October 26, 2022 - 00:00

On Oct. 5, I read in your newspaper, “4-H is 4 Everyone,” explaining a strong youth program that began in he early 1900’s.

Being a 4-H member as a youth, I participated in the County Livestock Show exhibiting swine and poultry.

I remember the 4-H motto as, “To make the best better. The 4-H pledge lists the four “H’s” as it says: “I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my hear tot greater loyalty, my hands to larger service and my health to better living. For my club, my community, and my world.”

“Each H” is represented as a leaf on the four leaf green clover on the white 4-H flag.

I enjoyed being a member of 4-H when I was a youth.

Sincerely,

Christie Yeates
