The Texas Senate unanimously passed SB 581, the Homeowners Religious Freedom Act, authored by Senator Paul Bettencourt (R-Houston) and joint-authors Senator Lois Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) and Senator Brandon Creighton (R-Montgomery) to provide protection for homeowners who wish to place certain religious displays in their front yard. Representative Mike Schofield (R-Houston) who filed an identical bill, will be the sponsor of SB581 in the Texas House.
