Bulldogs varsity sting Yellowjackets in home opener

After almost a month, the Bandera Bulldogs basketball teams finally played their first home games on Tuesday, Nov. 28. All three teams played well and at the end of the evening, the Bulldogs went 2-1 against the Yellowjackets.

Varsity

The Bulldog varsity had a good night defeating Llano by a 71-48 score as the Bulldogs took an early lead and never looked back. This was a total team victory as every player contributed in the win. Ben Shackelford played a great game as he scored 19 points, 13 boards, three steals, and a blocked shot. Jerry Alcorta added 12 points, Brandon Chamberlain contributed 8, and Alex Cardenas had 7. Justin Raitz and Josh Ripple both scored 6, Jason Mayhew had 5, Colby Brown had 4, and Zane Neff and Wade Brosz added 2 points each.

The home crowd was great as they provided an exciting atmosphere to play in.

The Bulldog JV battled to get their first win of the season against Llano. The boys fought hard all game long and secured the home opener victory by a slim, 42- 40 margin.

Bandera was led led by Travis Adam's 13 points, Andy Garcia's 12 and Dalton Cox's 10.

The Bulldog freshmen squad started strong and led at halftime by a 27-19 score. However, Llano’s second half defense proved to be too much for the Bulldogs as they surged ahead and won the game, 56-51. The Bulldogs were led by Trace Deckers 16 and Gunnar Winkler’s 8 points.
