Mabel Florence Harman Kleibrink

Mabel Florence Harman Kleibrink, 91, was born Aug. 14, 1921 in Philadelphia, Penn. to Elizabeth Harkley and Charles Truman Harman.

She moved to Hammonton, N.J. as a child and graduated Hammonton High School.

She was a propane tank truck driver during World War II.

She later married John F. Kleibrink on Jan. 15, 1943.

Together she and her husband moved to San Antonio in 1947. She partnered with her husband to establish Kleibrink Plumbing Company while attending night classes at St. Mary’s University and rearing three children.

She broke through gender barriers for women plumbers. She and John never forgot to help the poor and widowed.

They retired to Pipe Creek and lived out their lives doing community and church projects.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John, and by her daughter Elizabeth, and her son, John Jr.

She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Richard Hartmann.

Her grandchildren are Susannah Fowler, Elizabeth Benoit and husband Kirk, Richard Hartmann Jr. and wife Alma, John Hartmann, Lt. Charity Breidenbach USN, and Davis Breidenbach. She had many great grandchildren.

Service will be at Lakehills United Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m.
